Under the direction of Dr. Todd Queen, the Colorado State Opera Theatre performs a variety of operatic repertoire, ranging from fully staged operas with orchestra (Floyd's Susannah, Britten's Albert Herring), one-act operas with piano (Bernstein's Trouble in Tahiti), and opera scenes spanning the Baroque, Classical, Romantic and modern eras. Auditions for CSOT are held at the beginning of each semester. A highlight each Fall is the Cantare i dolci (Songs and Sweets) fundraiser gala featuring select student performers, voice faculty and alumni performers. In February, CSOT combined with CSU Orchestra, Fort Collins Symphony, and Opera Fort Collins guest artists to perform a full concert version of Verdi’s Aida. Spring 2007 productions are fully staged productions of Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro, and Cole Porter’s Kiss Me Kate. Open to all CSU students by audition.
