Events and Programs

The Office of International Student and Scholar Services offer a variety of programs to meet the needs for international students and scholars at Colorado State University. Through these programs, we hope to aid international students and scholars to adapt to life in the United States, to become active in student life, and to later graduate from CSU and move on to the professional world. In essence, we hope to actively build connections between the international and U.S. communities on campus. Explore the programs below to find out which programs best meet your needs!

TRANSITION PROGRAMS

NEW INTERNATIONAL STUDENT ORIENTATION—mandatory to all new international students; provides useful information to help students better adjust to life while studying at Colorado State.

CULTURAL MENTORS—American and International volunteers who help lead new international student orientation and aid new international students with their transition to CSU.

DAY IN THE MOUNTAINS/DAY IN DENVER—mandatory for all new international students—spend a day in the mountains building friendships, exploring culture, and learning more about Colorado.

INTERNATIONAL FIRST YEAR EXPERIENCE WORKSHOPS—helpful workshops to assist international students in understanding academics at Colorado State, getting involved, and learning more about American culture.

INTERNATIONAL PROFESSIONAL WORKSHOPS workshops developed to build leadership skills and aid in the career process; includes workshops on Optional and Curricular Practical Training (OPT/CPT). *Please note that there have been several changes to the immigration regulations regarding OPT. You may now apply for OPT no more than 90 days before your desired start date. You also have up to 60 days after your completion date to apply for OPT. Please attend an OPT session for the latest information.*

INTERNATIONAL COMMENCEMENT CELEBRATION—our final good-bye to the students and scholars who are graduating from CSU or simply returning home after their exchange.

SOCIAL PROGRAMS

FRIDAY AFTERNOON CLUB—come meet new friends every Friday at the International House (1400 W. Elizabeth). You do not have to live in International House to attend.

INTERNATIONAL TEA—engage in conversation with people from around the world the last Thursday of the month.

WORLD-WIDE DANCE PARTY—experience the rhythms and learn the moves to dances from around the world.

INTERCULTURAL PROGRAMS

INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL/WORLD UNITY FAIR—a 55 year old tradition where internationals have the opportunity to share their culture with Fort Collins!

International Women’s Day Celebration—celebrate the triumphs and learn more about the obstacles that face women around the world today.

INTERNATIONAL STUDENT ORGANIZATIONS—25 student organizations that represent their countries or cultures or languages. Start your own group today!

FORT COLLINS INTERNATIONAL CENTER PROGRAMS—the official non-profit organization for the Office of International Programs. This all volunteer-run organization provides a variety of programs and services, including the International Friendship Program, an outdoor program, an international speakers’ bureau, English Conversational Classes, and an International Women’s Club.
