and Caribbean Studies
Program
Latin American and Caribbean Studies at Colorado State University is an interdisciplinary program designed as an adjunct to the student’s major field of specialization. The student may fulfill the requirements of the program and earn a Certificate of Latin American and Caribbean Studies by taking courses dealing with the Caribbean and Latin America in such fields as anthropology, art, economics, geography, history, literature, political science, sociology, and Spanish.
Requirements
To qualify for a certificate in Latin American & Caribbean Studies, students should complete, with a grade point average of 2.0 or better, a minimum of 15 credits in Latin American and Caribbean courses and at least 10 credits in either Spanish or Portuguese. If the language requirement is waived, students must complete 20 credits in Latin American or Caribbean area courses. Except for the language requirement, no more than 7 credits in any one discipline may be applied toward the certificate, unless a waiver is obtained by special petition.
Enrollment Procedures
The student from any discipline wishing to enroll in the Latin American & Caribbean Studies Program should consult with one of the professors listed on the Latin American & Caribbean Studies Program Faculty List. Students who do not have access to LACSP advisors should consult with the Office of International Programs.
