PEACE AND RECONCILIATION STUDIES

Program

The Peace and Reconciliation Studies Interdisciplinary Program is open to all students who want to understand more about the philosophical roots of peace and reconciliation, its expression and potential within various academic disciplines, research, and service. Knowing more about the ideas that underlie nonviolent conflict resolution, effective communication, cooperation, and mediation within cross-cultural contexts will help students evaluate how peace and reconciliation can impact their beliefs, choices and actions.

Requirements

Undergraduates must complete 9 credits of required coursework as well as another12 credits of elective coursework from the list below. Elective courses must be taken in at least 3 different disciplines. Students wishing to concentrate in a particular area may petition the Board of Directors for approval. Practicum, internship and independent study credits can also be included with approval of the Board on a case by case basis.

Graduate students must complete 6 credits of required coursework as well as another 6 credits of elective coursework from the list below. Elective courses must be taken in at least 3 different disciplines. Students wishing to concentrate in a particular area may petition the Board of Directors for approval. Practicum, internship and independent study credits can also be included with approval of the Board on a case by case basis.

Enrollment Procedures

The student from any discipline wishing to enroll in the Peace and Reconciliation Studies Program should consult with one of the professors listed on the Peace and Reconciliation Program Faculty List. Students who do not have access to PRS advisors should consult with the Office of International Programs.
