| The mission
of the Colorado State University Office of Conference Services
is to solicit, broker, and coordinate educationally focused conferences
within the university's mission.
The Office of Conference Services (OCS) provides
services to approximately 100 programs each year that generate from
$4 to $6 million in gross revenue for the University. Programs are
sponsored by both on and off campus organizations and range in size
from less than 20 to more than 5000 participants. |

OCS coordinators
make arrangements for all necessary CSU services such as meeting
rooms, campus lodging, food service, audio visual equipment, transportation,
printing, and for other conference related needs. The Office of
Conference Services also provides optional services including advance
and on-site registration, accounting, marketing assistance, conference
planning, and logistics coordination for programs meeting year round
both on and off campus.
The benefits of this seasonal operation are to:
- Enhance the University's student recruitment efforts
- Provide year-round employment for employees who might otherwise
work only nine or ten months
- Generate additional revenues to off-set the student room and
board costs and to support Auxiliary Services
- Provide professional work opportunities for students
- Build awareness of the Housing facilities at Colorado State
University to the general public, especially Colorado tax payers
- Foster positive relations with the Fort Collins business community
OCS also operates the CSU Visitors Center at the
corner of Pitkin Street and College Avenue. The mission of the Visitors
Center is to welcome the visiting public and to provide directions
and information about Colorado State University. The Visitors Center
provides maps and general information to approximately 5000 groups,
families, or individuals each year. |
